The stable Hunter Valley saw the birth of its first crosses in 2019, including JAZZIE BELLE (placed in Group 2 & 3), JUNON (placed in Group 2 & 3) and JET JET JET (7 wins in 8 attempts) but it’s the generation of foals born in 2020, the “Ks”, that will propel the Hunter Valley breeding operation into the annual Top 10 of best breeders.
This includes KING OPERA, Group 2 & 3 winner and second in the Critérium des 3 ans (Gr.1) behind KRACK TIME ATOUT, a colt from PART DE RÊVE. That year also saw the birth of the champion KAMEHAMEHA (€231,050 in earnings, a record of 1’12”9, Gr.2 & 3 winner but also second in the Critérium des jeunes Gr.1), KOBAYASHI ( €90,620 winnings), KARLITA (€80,710 in earnings, Gr.3 winner and Gr.1 placed), KRACKMANIA (€72,520 earnings, placed Gr.3), KILLER QUEEN (€67,620 earnings, placed Gr.3), KEYNOTE (€57,650 in earnings), KEY BISCAYNE (€42,715 in winnings) and many others…
Now it’s the turn of the 2021 “L” generation to take center stage. LEMON TREE (3 races – 2 wins and €34,200 in earnings), LUMINOUS STAR (2 races – 1 win – 1 place and €12,475 in earnings), LIGHT MY FIRE (1 race – 1 win and €5,625 in winnings) who got the ball rolling this year.
