Hunter Valley is as much the name of a 3-year-old filly as it is the label of a recently created stable which very quickly showed its great ambitions.
Back to September 2018. Deauville, Elie de Brignac establishment. The yearlings are here to take part in the auction. Ambitions are high and bids are flying. The result: a new record for a trotting yearling (horse in its 2nd year) at €400,000 and three of the six largest purchases on behalf of this team.
The top prize goes to
Hunter Valley
daughter of Charly du Noyer and Reethi Rah Jet, a full sister to the crack Bold Eagle. As a symbol, the filly will give her name to the racing stable. Another major purchase was
Havilah
for which the hammer will fall at €180,000. This daughter of Ready Cash and Ulzhane ‘s granddam is the exceptional Encombevineuse, the only mare in the studbook to have produced three different Critérium winners in her direct line (she has since also been celebrated as the granddam of a Critérium des Jeunes winner with Havana d’Aurcy). It took a lot of hard work, but the team has clear objectives: to buy the best genetics to create a powerful breeding operation. All that’s left now is to set up a structure (see below) and be patient to see whether the first phase dedicated to racing will be successful.
